James C. Baker

James C. Baker, age 89 of Meadville, passed away on Monday April 2, 2018 at Meadville Medical Center. He was born May 26, 1928 in Meadville, PA the son of the late Clarence E. Baker and A. Ingvarda Johnson.  He married Jean Mumau Baker on November 25, 1950.  She preceded him in death on June 3, 2008.             He graduated from Conneaut Valley High School.  He retired after 43 years of service from the Meadville Forging Company.  He then worked as a grounds keeper for Vernon Recreational Parks.             He was a veteran of the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 having served in Germany during the Korean War.             James loved to coon hunt and had a number of dogs.  He belonged to the Crawford County Coon Hunter Club.  He was a Vernon Township Little League and Senior Coach for many years.  Also he served as the President of the Vernon Township Baseball Association.             James is survived by two daughters: Deborah Baker-Holt and her husband Frank “Skip” of Conneaut Lake, PA, Constance Kozlowski of Linesville, PA, a son Timothy Baker and his fiancée Christine McCarthy of Meadville, four grandchildren: Nathan Baker and his wife Katie, Ashley Shokoohee and her husband Daniel, Ryan Kozlowski, and Brent Holt and his wife Amy, six great-grandchildren: Kayla Baker, Mack Baker, Gordon Baker, Easton Shokoohee, Alexis Holt and Sydney Holt, a sister: Sandy Artman of Conneautville, PA.             In addition to his parents and his wife, James was preceded in death by a beloved grandson Matthew Baker, son in law: Gerald Kozlowski, sister and brother-in-law Geraldine and Jim Hoover, and a brother: Gordon Baker.             Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4 PM until time of the funeral service at 7 PM with Pastor David Brumagin, officiating.
