James Ball

January 14, 1941 — October 28, 2023

James D. Ball, age 82, of Geneva, PA, passed away unexpectedly at home October 28, 2023. He was born January 14, 1941 in Cambridge Springs, PA to the late James A. and Florence M. (Porter) Ball.  He married Linda J. Grinnell, who preceded him in death on December 27, 2018.  Jim graduated from Cambridge Springs High School in 1958.  He was employed by Channellock for 42 years until his retirement in 2005.  He was also past President of USWA Local 1905.  Jim was a member of Faith Geneva Church where he served on the Pastor Parish Committee and was also a Trustee.  He was very active in the Church and always helping and lending a hand where needed.  Jim enjoyed hand tools, Nascar die cast, spending time with his family and Church family, and his loyal dog Kenzie.  He also enjoyed attending events and visiting friends at the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his two daughters, Yvonne Longstreth and her husband, John of Meadville; Valerie Turner and her husband, John of Cambridge Springs; two sons, Dave Ball and his wife, Melanie of Harmonsburg, and Trent Ball; six grandchildren, John S. Longstreth, II (Mandy), Ashley (Longstreth) Lesnick (Ed), John E. Turner, III (Brianna), Mackenzie Turner, Megan Ball, and Abby Ball; four great grandchildren, Riley, Wyatt, Madeline, and Zane; and a sister, Laura Fails of Conneaut, OH.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda, of 51 years, his parents, and three brothers, Vernon, Clifford and Lyle Ball.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, November 2 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Dickson Funeral Home, 130 N. 2nd St., Conneaut Lake.  The funeral service will be Friday, November 3 at 11 AM at the Funeral Home with Pastor Joy Mumford officiating.  A private family burial will take place at Venango Cemetery.
