James "Jim" Swogger

James “Jim” Swogger, age 80, of Saegertown, PA passed away on Saturday February 10, 2024 at Meadville Medical Center after a sudden illness.  He was born on September 21, 1943 in Franklin, PA to the late Frank and Eleanor (Hogg) Swogger.  He married Betty Lou (Brown) Trace on September 6, 1997. She survives.

Jim graduated from Meadville High School.  He retired from PPG after 37 years as a glass maker.  He was a member of Bible Baptist Church.

Jim was a member of the Eagles Club #429, VFW Post #2006, Saegertown American Legion and West Mead Social Club.  He enjoyed playing cards with friends, going to flea markets and spending time with his grandkids.  He was an avid collector of all things Coca Cola.

In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his daughters, Linda Swogger (Terry Artice) of Linesville, PA and Christie Pringle (Ralph SanFelice) of Meadville, PA and his step sons, Thomas Trace (Jennifer) of Rogers, MN, Brian Trace (Gina) of Saegertown, PA and Jason Trace (Keri) of Port St. John, FL; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews and his brother, Don Swogger (Debbie) of Grove City, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Rosalyn Shaw (Art) and Ila Jean Pusbach (Richard).

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday February 15, 2024 from 5-7 pm at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home and Crematory, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville, PA 16335.  Funeral service will be on Friday February 16, 2024 at the funeral home at 11:00 am with Pastor Phil Thomas of Bible Baptist Church officiating.  Jim will be laid to rest at Greendale Cemetery.
