Janet Smith

Janet Elaine Smith, age 84, of Greenwood Township passed away at her residence surrounded by her family on August 6, 2019.   She was born March 2, 1935 in Meadville to the late Harry and Alice (Johnson) Hanstine.  She married Kenneth Leroy Smith Sr. on April 18, 1952.  He preceded her in death May 8, 2013.

She worked at the Red Lantern Café in Meadville and then Parkway Diner in Meadville.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and caring for her grandchildren.  She also enjoyed gardening and fishing and she loved her dogs.

Janet is survived by three daughters, Linda Smalley and her husband, Stephen of Jerome, ID; Robin Andrew of Atlantic, PA and Susan Acel and her husband, Kenneth of Titusville, PA; three sons, Kenneth Smith Jr. of Pasco, WA, Shawn Smith of WA and Cameron Doggett of Atlantic, PA; 18 grandchildren, Terry, Jr., Tony, Trinity, Danny, Vicky, Brenda, Misty, Jasmine, Kenneth III, Bella, Susie, Shannon, Tonya, Shane, Amanda, Adam, Bryan and Joey and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Carol Rapple; her brother, Harry Hanstine; her grandson, Dennis Doggett and her daughter-in-law, Cathy Smith.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
