Jeanne Elizabeth Hills

Jeanne Elizabeth Hills, age 90 of Rolling Fields Nursing Home, Conneautville, PA and formerly of Meadville, PA passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016 at Rolling Fields. She was born January 19, 1926 in Meadville, PA, the daughter of the late George D. First and Hazel E. Himes First. She married Alden E. Hills on January 16, 1949. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2016. She graduated from Meadville High School. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Meadville, PA where she was very active, having served as a Sunday School Teacher, helped in the Primary Department at the church, member of the Choir, the Fellowship Committee and helped with funeral dinners and the Birthday Card Ministry. She was active with the Mission’s Committee and had traveled on Missionary trips. Jeanne was very involved with volunteering her time to the Domestics, Tourism, Crawford County Treasurer’s office processing doe licenses, and served 25 plus years on the Baked Goods Home Products Department at the Crawford County Fair and served as a Grandma Reader at Second District School. She completed a lot of the behind the scene activities. Jeanne received the Volunteer of the Year Award from RSVP. Jeanne loved the outdoors, wildflowers, camping and her property. Jeanne is survived by her son: Bruce Alden Hills and his wife Brenda of Conneautville, PA, her daughter, Susan Elizabeth Miller and her husband Ken of Meadville, PA and her son Jeffrey Lee Hills and his wife Robbin of Lincoln, IL, seven grandchildren: Jason Hills, Jennifer Hills Yania, Monica Miller Heisey, Dawn Miller Fronce, Shawn Hills, Samuel Hills and Kendra Miller, 13 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Jeanne was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Lindsay Ann Hills, and a brother: David George First. Family and friends are welcome to call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home & Crematory, 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville, PA. All are welcome to attend the funeral service at 11 AM on Thursday at the First Christian Church, 503 N Main Street, Meadville, PA with Roger Smith, associate minister and Jason Hills, Jeanne’s grandson officiating. Private interment will be in the Brookhauser Cemetery, Saegertown, PA. The family suggests that memorials be made in Jeanne’s memory to the First Christian Church, in care of the Missionary Funds, 503 N Main Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
