John "Jack" Lybarger

October 2, 1937 — March 30, 2024

John “Jack” H. Lybarger, age 86, of Meadville, PA passed away after an extended illness at UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA on Saturday March 30, 2024 with family by his side.  He was born on October 2, 1937 in Meadville, PA to the late Chester A. and Elizabeth K. (Hodge) Lybarger.  He married Mary J. Lucas on May 22, 1965.  She survives.

Jack was a 1955 graduate of Meadville High School. He proudly served in the United States military from 1960-1966.  He served 3 years in the National Guard and 3 years in the Army Reserves.  He worked as a design draftsman for 43 years in the Meadville area at numerous plants before his retirement in 1999 from Systematic Tool and Design.

Jack was an avid golfer and he enjoyed hunting. He loved spending time at “euchre camp” with his friends. He was a lifetime member of Meadville Elks BPO #219 and West Mead Fire Department #2.

In addition to his loving wife of 58 years, Mary, he is survived by his son, James E. Lybarger and his wife, Alicia of Pittsburgh, PA and his daughter, Karen A. Ott and her husband, Ron of Conneaut Lake, PA and his grandchildren, Lucas and Isabella Lybarger and Aiden, Alex and Alayna Ott.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant brother, Fredrick Lybarger.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday April 3, 2024 from 4-6 pm at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home and Crematory, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville, PA 16335.  As per Jack’s wishes, there will be no formal service.  He will be laid to rest at Greendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to West Mead VFD #2, 20607 Ryan Rd., Meadville, PA 16335 or Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Rd., Meadville, PA 16335.
