John Mead

John G. Mead, 76, passed away at Cleveland Clinic on Monday September 23, 2024 with his devoted family at his side. John was born on December 10, 1947 to the late Gradon “Gale” and Mildred Mead. He married Susan J. Aaron on July 7, 1973. She survives.

John was a US Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War and he retired from the Army Reserves after many years. John graduated from Conneaut Valley High School in 1965. He attended Penn State University graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor Degree in Biology with a minor in Zoology. He spent his career working at the Department of Environmental Protection. He retired out of the Northwest Regional Office as the Waste Management Operations Chief.

After retirement, he and Susan enjoyed traveling the county together. John loved hunting and enjoyed many hunting trips. He enjoyed golfing and once got a hole in one at Venango Valley Golf Course. John was always knowledgeable in many areas and always had questions about any topic. He was passionate about everything he discussed. He never sat still and always had one more thing to say. He will be missed by many.

In addition to his wife of 51 years, Susan he is survived by his son, Chad Mead and his wife, Leslie, daughter, Katie Clauss and her husband, Derek; two grandchildren, whom he adored, Emersyn and Isaiah Clauss; his beloved canine companion of the last two years, Cody; his brothers, Donald Mead and his wife, Jean and Dennis Mead and his wife, Pam and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday September 26, 2024 from 12:00-2:00 pm at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home and Crematory, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville, PA 16335. Full military honors will be provided by Vietnam Vets Post #52 at 2:00 pm.
