John Moore Sr.

August 18, 1948 — May 13, 2025

John Osrow Moore Sr., 76, of Meadville, PA, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on August 18, 1948, in Kittanning, PA, he was the son of the late Robert E. Moore and Carrie F. (Slagle) Moore.

John proudly served in the US Navy, earning the National Defense Service Medal. After completing his military duty, he dedicated 44 years of hard work as a maintenance supervisor at Pittsburgh Plate Glass (PPG).

On September 25, 1970, John married the love of his life, Cruz Elena Moore. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in love and the joy of family. John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose heart was as big as his smile.

John was a member of the ICC and cherished the simple pleasures of life. His greatest joy came from the time spent with his friends and family. Whether it was a summer barbeque, or an evening around a bonfire sharing stories and laughter, John created moments that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Cruz Elena Moore; his loving children, Gloria E. Ciriza and John “Jake” Moore Jr.; his six grandchildren—Marcello, Juan, Marnae, Maria, Eva, and Elena—and his five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Francis Prazenica and Regis Wermter.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bobby; and his sister, Merna Harmon.

John lived a life marked by service and love.  His legacy will live on in the stories he told and the values he passed on. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
