After serving in the Merchant Marines and US Fifth Army during WWII, Penny returned home to New Bethlehem and worked for Crawford Furniture and Keystone Salt Company. He enjoyed a very rich life. He enjoyed writing poetry, cooking, hunting, fishing, and public speaking.
