John Yassem

John “Doc” or “Hubie” H. Yassem, age 90, of Meadville, PA passed away January 5, 2025. He was born on September 19, 1934, in Ford City, PA to the late John and Irene (Morvick) Yassem. He married Irma Herbst in June of 1956. She preceded him in death on February 25, 2020.

John graduated from Ford City High School. He was drafted in the US Army and served in Germany from 1957- 1959.  He worked at PPG at both the Ford City and Meadville locations and retired after 40 years of service.

He enjoyed hunting and being at his camps in the Benezette Area. He liked to watch the deer and was particularly proud to tell the story of the swinging bridge that he built at his “Last Frontier Camp.” He was also very proud of his many cars and had a lot of fun with them. He was able to fix anything.

John is survived by his daughter, Tonya J. Bradbury and her husband, Stephen of Rosebud, TX; his two grandchildren, Anthony Bilka and his wife, Nadya of Meadville, PA and Nicole DiGiacomo and her husband, Mark of Belton, TX; his great-granddaughters, Anastasia, Sophia and Madelynn and his niece, Robin (Eck) Rainey and her husband David Rainey, as well as other family.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joey Yassem and his sisters, Amy (Yassem) Campbell and Maxine (Yassem) Tunno.

As per John’s wishes there will be no public services.

John and Irma will be laid to rest together at Lawn Haven Cemetery in Ford City, PA.
