Joseph Borkowski, age 84 of Conneaut Lake, PA passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2017 at his residence. Joseph was born in Dickson City, PA on March 6, 1932 the son of the late Joseph Borkowski and Mary (Witucki) Borkowski He married Eleanor May (Tootsie) Hutel on June 25, 1955 and had celebrated 55 years of marriage. Joseph and Eleanor were the first couple to be married at Blessed Sacrament Church in Natrona Heights, PA. He attended Dickson City, Riverside, St. Ladislaus Polish School for eight years, Pond Street, Wood Street, and Har-Brack High School in Natrona Heights, PA. Joseph was also a certified mechanic from Rosedale Auto Mechanic School. Joseph was a member of the 10th Infantry Division, 35th Field Artillery, Ft. Riley. He served in Schweinfurt, Germany, from 1955 to 1956. He was also a member of the Army Reserves. He was employed at Tarentum Bowling Alley, Brackenridge Tire, Brackenridge Works, Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation and the Polish Falcons Natrona. Joseph was the owner of Joe Sinclair’s Gas Station in Natrona, PA. He also worked at PPG in Creighton, PA, and later transferred to the PPG in Meadville where he worked as a cross cutter and line hauler for forty years. Joseph was a member of Our Lady Queen of the America’s Church in Conneaut Lake, PA. As a child Joseph was a gymnast for the Polish Falcons in Natrona, PA. He was an avid swimmer, basketball player, and motor cycle rider, and had several bikes in his life time. He was a volunteer fire fighter in the 60’s at Brackenridge Pioneer Hose Co, PA. Joseph enjoyed: traveling, farming, gardening, fishing, hunting, maintaining vehicles, repairing bicycles, and woodworking. For eighteen years Joseph and his wife would live in North Fort Meyers, FL during the winter. Joseph was an devoted Steelers fan, and enjoyed watching all sports on T.V. Joseph is survived by his daughter, Joel L. Stephens and her husband, John of Conneaut Lake, PA; a son, Joseph C. Borkowski of Meadville, PA; a sister, Celie White, of Harrisburg, PA. Joseph is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor M. (Hutel) Borkowski in 2009; a sister Betty Kozlowski, and three brothers; Theodore, Chester, and Thomas Borkowski. Family and friends may call on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 PM at the Dickson Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N Second Street, Conneaut Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church, 155 S Ninth Street, Conneaut Lake, PA, with Father James Downs as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Our Lady Queen of the Americas Cemetery, with full military honors.
