Joseph C. Mayr

Joseph C. Mayr, "Alaska Joe" 81 of Conneaut Lake, PA passed away on Monday, September 15, 2014 at UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA He was born October 24, 1932 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania the son of the late Joseph and Anna Wagner Mayr. Joe graduated from Linesville High School. He had been employed as a stone mason in construction. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the United States Army, where he earned the Rank of Sergeant. He enlisted in Erie, Pennsylvania on October 30, 1950 and was discharged from Fort Belvoir, Virginia on October 29, 1953. Joe was a member of the Linesville VFW and Pumphouse 45 in Hartstown. He loved spending time at the P&D Saloon with his friends. Joe is survived by many close friends. A gathering will be held at the Dickson Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N Second Street, Conneaut Lake, PA on Sunday, September 28th from 3:30 to 4:00 pm. Full Military Honors Service will be held at 4 PM at the Funeral Home conducted by Meadville Harm Jan Huidekooper VFW Post 2006 and the Linesville VFW, Ssg. Albert E. Moss Jr. Memorial Post 7842.
