Josephine Taormina, age 89 of Meadville, PA passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Wesbury United Methodist Community. She was born July 7, 1923 in Pittsburgh, PA the daughter of the late Thomas and Carmallena Macaluso. She married Paul Taormina on November 27, 1947. He preceded her in death in March of 1998. She was a member of St Agatha Catholic Church. Josephine, along with her husband Paul, owned a number of restaurants during their working years. They owned the Grandview Inn, now known as Hunter's Inn, until their retirement in 1977. Josephine was well known for her cooking skills and her famous pizza. The Grandview Inn was a great social gathering place, after local sporting events, for customers to enjoy Josephine's delicious food. She loved her three sons and her grandchildren and was happiest when she was cooking for them or reading to them. All six grandchildren were happy to spend the day at Grandma's house and enjoy three wonderful meals at her home. Another specialty of hers was the cannoli that she made for Christmas. Although her daughter-in-laws tried to duplicate her recipe, none of them could even come close to making the cannoli's the way that Mom did. She is survived by her three sons, Sam Taormina and his wife, Pat; Paul Taormina and his wife, Mary; and Joe Taormina and his wife, Kathy all of Meadville, PA; six grandchildren, Brian Taormina, Chandra Chappell, Linda Gordon, Lisa Taormina, Kaitlyn Taormina, and Matt Taormina,; three great-grandchildren, Ariana Chappell, Eva Gordon and Ella Gordon; a brother, James Macaluso, and two sisters, Theresa Galiano and Mary Moss. In addition to her parents, and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ross Macaluso, and a great-granddaughter, Makayla Chappell. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday at St. Agatha Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville with Father Matthew Kujawinski, as Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Agatha Cemetery.
