Laura J. Porter

Laura J. Porter, 86, of Meadville, PA, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Park Avenue Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Meadville. Laura was born July 8, 1928 in Meadville, PA, the daughter of the late John and Susie Schaffner. Laura married Donald Q. Porter . They had been together for 55 years. He passed away just 12 hours after her death, on December 13, 2014. Laura loved children and animals. She has been known throughout her lifetime as a cat lover and would adopt and feed any cat that came to her home. Laura always cared very much for her family and the love of her life Don to whom she was married to for 55 years. She took much pride in their marriage and devotion to each other. They always took care of one another and never spent a day apart except for extended illness. She loved to talk about the summertime picnics she and Don had with family and reminisce about good times had in the past with her husband and family. She firmly believed that God's Kingdom will end all suffering, sorrow, and death for people on Earth according to Bible promises and that one day soon the Earth will be transformed into a paradise once again....like it was originally intended. Laura is also survived by nephews Timothy Schaffner, David Tokos, Bill Schaffner, and nieces Cheryl Anderson, Tracy Comeau, Annalee Allen. In addition to her parents and her husband, Laura was preceded in death by brothers Paul, Merle, and John Schaffner, and sisters Esther Tokos and Arlene Turner. Laura will be laid to rest alongside her husband Donald at Kiser Hill Cemetery. There will be no calling hours or service.
