Lawrence (Sonny) Lee Mattis, age 69 of Meadville, PA passed away on Monday, October 21, 2013 at his residence, with his family by his side. He was born April 16, 1944 in Meadville, PA, the son of the late Joseph Lee and Delores (Smith) Mattis. He married Sandra Louise DeRemer on June 20, 1970. She preceded him in death on March 4, 1999. He retired from the Mercer Spring and Wire in Townville, PA. He was a member of the St. Hippolyte Church in Frenchtown. He enjoyed spending time at Hunter's Inn and Tamarack Tavern, and was a member of Station 4. He loved spending time with his family, loved to hunt, play cornhole and cards. He was an avid Cleveland Browns Fan and supporter of NASCAR He is survived by six daughters; Lisa Hays and her husband, Mark of Saegertown, PA, Patricia Casper and her husband, Richard of Cambridge Springs, PA, Robin Hollabaugh and her husband, Greg of New Richmond, PA, Diane Deeter and her husband Dave of Cochranton, PA, Shannon Caldwell and her husband Timothy of Meadville, Pa and Penny Simpson of Cochranton, PA, a son; Lawrence Mattis Jr and his wife, Kathlene of Meadville, PA, 17 grandchildren, Jessie, Marie, David, Amanda, Joshua, Jake, Megan, Julia, Stevie, Todd, Seth, Brandon, Brandi, Austin, Chandler, Matt and Nikki, and eleven great-grandchildren, Adrik, Kyleigh, Dakoda, Wyatt, Preston, Mason, David, Katie, Kolton, Payton, Ayla, three sisters; Delores Mattis of Guys Mills, PA, Shirley Mattis of Frenchtown, PA, and Wanda Morehead and her husband, Dale of Guys Mills, PA, three brothers; William Mattis of Guys Mills, PA, Mark Mattis of Guys Mills, and Richard Mattis and his fiancée, Barb Robinson of Meadville, PA and by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday at St. Hippolyte Church, Frenchtown, PA with Father Daniel Prez as Celebrant.
