Leatrice E. Abers Hultman

February 4, 1931 — March 6, 2018

Leatrice Abers Hultman died the morning of March 6, 2018, at Meadville Medical Center, having succumbed to chronic health complications. She was born February 4, 1931 in Pueblo, Colorado to Charles and Beatrice (Field) Price She trained as a beautician in Colorado and shortly thereafter met and married Donald Abers, who was serving in the Air Force. After marrying in 1952, they had four daughters, Debra, Denise, Dawn and Denette. After his death in 1981 she married Donald Hultman, who preceeded her in death. Her family grew to include Durwood Abbey, Debbie's husband, residing in Dumfries, Virginia. Their children are Ryan (and Sara and their children, Reagan, Ethan and Maddox) of Leesburg, Virginia, and Brook and Laura of Forest Hill, Maryland.  Denise married John Lehman and their children are Chad, who preceeded her in death, Andrew, Tai, Angel, Lily and Laila. They reside in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Lea and her first husband bought and remodeled an old farmhouse in Kennedy, New York, which included an addition for her beauty parlor. She served as a Sunday school teacher at the Baptist Church and had a beautiful soprano voice for their choir. She was known for singing, "His Eye is on the Sparrow." Throughout her many losses and struggles, she relied upon the Lord and celebrated her faith at the Kennedy  Methodist Church and the Busti Church of God. Most recently, when she left her beloved home to move to Wesbury Retirement Community in Meadville, she decided God's purpose for her was to knit and crochet blankets and clothing for needy children. Lea is remembered by friends and family for giving sound advice,  leading them to the Lord in faith, and having a warm and welcoming home with wonderful smells from her baking. She was generous with her friends and family, and had a love for music and watching Jeopardy. In her final days she was quick to ask how others were doing and to assure them she was fine. A memorial service will be held this spring to celebrate her life. She will return to Kennedy to be buried next to her first husband. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wesbury 31 N. Park Avenue Meadville,  PA 016335 (www.wesbury.com). Arrangements have been entrusted to the HATHEWAY-TEDESCO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 614 BALDWIN STREET, MEADVILLE, PA 16335.
