Leo B. Walter

Leo B. Walter, age 74, of Meadville, PA passed away on Monday, August 19, 2013 at Meadville Medical Center. Leo was born March 7, 1939 in Meadville, PA the son of the late Leo C. and Dorothy Mae (Rock) Walter. He married Hazel M. Slater on October 30, 1958. She survives. Leo attended Meadville Schools and the Crawford County Vo-Tech School. He had been employed as a salesman with Pepsi-Cola and with Meadowbrook Milk, worked at the Wyant Farm, and at Avtex Fibers. He retired as a salesman with American General in 2001. H enjoyed working on cars, talking politics and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He loved the time spent socializing with his friends. He is survived by his wife, Hazel M. Walter of Meadville, PA; a son, Marvin Walter and his wife Dawn of Meadville, PA; four daughters, Melinda Rudd of Meadville, PA, Wanda Walter of Meadville, PA, Robin Whaley and her husband, Jonathan of Breckenridge, PA, and Patricia DeWalt and her husband Fred of Meadville, PA; 11 grandchildren, LeAndra Lindsey-Walter, Armond Walter, Rev. James Rudd and his wife, Kendra, Bryon Rudd and his fiancé, Tabitha Davenport, Kyle Brown and his wife, Dana, Ericka Winston and her husband, Jerry, Ashley Franqui and her husband, Geoff, Alexandre Brown and his fiancé, Judy Toth, Ryan DeWalt and his wife, Leah, Heath DeWalt and his wife, Robin, and Hannah DeWalt; 5 great-grandchildren, Erma Winston, Aiden Rudd, Aleena Brown, Maximus Franqui, and Adalee DeWalt; a brother, Thomas Walter and his wife, Betty of Clarendon, PA; and life-long friend Richard "Dick" Allen. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Leo was preceded in death by a baby sister, Donna Walter and by a brother, William Walter, sister, Esther Victoria "Vickey" Leach. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 7 to 9 PM and on Thursday from 11 to 1 PM at the Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home & Crematory, 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville, PA. 16335. The funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ray Martinez, of the Living Waters Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Township.
