Lois Getz

              Lois L. Getz, age 83 of Conneaut Lake, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Meadville Medical Center.              She was born February 15, 1933 in Meadville, PA the daughter of the late Hamilton Bortner and Florence Richards Bortner.  She married William R. Getz in l951.  He preceded her in death in 1996.              Lois attended Meadville Schools.  She worked as a clerk at G.C. Murphy for a couple of years, where she met her husband.  She then worked at Talon in the experimental department until she retired.             She was of the Methodist faith having attended the Harmonsburg United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the VFW Post #7842 in Linesville and a member of the Park Firehall.  She enjoyed baking, cooking, and spending time with her family. She had a gift of “grandmothering” many children in the community, and had a special bond with Sam and Hannah Levine.               “A Beautiful soul never forgotten  and yours was certainly beautiful, rest easy.”                                                      Love you always,                                                                         Hannah               Lois is survived by two daughters: Cathy Unger and her husband Richard of Harmonsburg, and Cheryl Howard and her husband Brandon of Conneaut Lake, six grandchildren: Jason Unger, Mark Unger, Tracey Steele, Marlene Shorey and her husband Mike, Troy Unger and his wife Carolyn and Amy Bernoski, and many great grandchildren and had a special bond with Jordan Unger, a sister: Joanne Cornell and her husband Bob, of Meadville,  PA.  Lois is further survived by many nieces and nephews.             In addition to her parents and her husband, Lois was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters: Donald Bortner, Chuck Bortner, Hamilton (Murph) Bortner, Ella Mae Crawford, Ruth Chambley, Glenn Bortner, June Ash, Jean Shiner and William Bortner.             A Celebration of Life will be held on February 12th at 3:30 PM at the Linesville VFW, 6913 Gehrton Road, Linesville, PA 16424. Inurnment will take place at Harmonsburg Cemetery.
