Lois Dare Sheets

Lois Dare Sheets, age 91, of Conneaut Lake, PA passed away on Monday December 16, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Lois was born June 11, 1922, in Pocahontas County, West Virginia, the daughter of the late James and Truda (Shinaberry) Nottingham. She married Ernie Sheets of Greenbank, West Virginia on November 8, 1941 in Crawford County and recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary. They moved to New Richmond, Pennsylvania, where they resided for 36 years, and more recently moved to Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania. Lois was raised on a farm and loved all animals and wildlife. Her interests included: gardening, canning, cooking, camping, traveling, and spending considerable time with her beloved family. She was a lifetime member of the Golden Crown Chapter 44 of the Eastern Star from Cambridge Springs, PA. Lois's employment history included worked as a telephone operator in Norfolk, Virginia and a civil service employee at Camp Reynold's Military Complex during World War II; an office worker at Talon Corporation; a cashier at the Crawford Store; and a bookkeeper/cashier at Montgomery Wards. She is survived by her husband, Ernie Sheets of Conneaut Lake, PA; her son, Douglas Sheets and his wife, Lisa, of Meadville, PA; her daughter, Diane Mariani and her husband Roland of Conneaut Lake, Pa. She was the proud grandmother of Matthew Mariani and his wife, Michelle, of Harrisburg, PA, Robert Sheets and his wife Lacey of Cochranton, PA and Lea (Mariani) Nicotra of Washington, D.C. Her great-grandchildren include: Isabella Mariani, Isaac Mariani, Carter Sheets, and Lorelei Sheets. Her surviving family also includes a brother, James Nottingham of Marlinton, West Virginia, a sister Patricia Cope of Townville, PA and a sister-in-law Elsie Setta of Blooming Valley, PA The family would like to thank the caregivers on Dogwood Street at Rolling Fields for their loving and compassionate care. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at New Richmond Cemetery.
