Louise P. (Kotermanski) Werner, affectionately known by all as Dolly, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, January 14, 2025. Dolly was born May 14, 1933 in Meadville, PA; one of 17 children. Coming from a large family instilled strong family values at an early age.
Raised on a farm outside of Meadville, Dolly found her way to Sharpsburg, PA as a teenager to begin working at her aunt's bar, The Blue Haven, located in Cheswick. Subsequently, she was hired at HJ Heinz Company where she worked in quality control for well over a decade. While working, Dolly was introduced to Daniel Werner, through her brother Frank. They married on July 18, 1964 at which time she took on a more important role as a loving wife and mother, returning to Crawford County and settling in to their home in Conneaut Lake.
Dolly led by example; she was a warrior of faith, a lifelong member of Our Lady Queen of Americas Catholic Church, The Altar Rosary Society, Outreach and the Catholic Federation. Dolly and Dan always had a large vegetable and flower garden where they would spend countless hours in the summer nurturing their hard work. In addition to gardening, she found berry picking therapeutic. Her cupboards, alongside well-seasoned cast iron skillets, were always filled with canned fruit and vegetables she canned and homemade jelly. She enjoyed occasional trips to the casino, playing bingo, traveling the country visiting relatives and friends, and there wasn’t a dance floor she didn’t like. She had an undeniable passion for sports, participated in bowling and golf leagues, followed professional hockey and auto racing. In a beautiful moment of faith in 2021, she prayed with Helio Castroneves the night before his stunning win of the Indy 500. Her memory was like a steel trap, and the door to her warm home was always inviting and revolving. She absolutely adored her family, to them, she was considered the matriarch.
Dolly is predeceased by her husband Dan of 57 years, her parents, Helena Kotermanski Lojek and Stefan Lojek, her twin brother John Kotermanski, siblings Stanley, Chester, Frank, Marjorie Lojek and Shirley (Lojek) Lippert. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Werner Devlin of Mt. Lebanon, PA and granddaughter, Lindsay Hyer (Sam) and great granddaughter, Evelyn Lousie Hyer of Indianapolis, IN, brothers Steve, Joe, Geno, Jack and Ron, sisters Anna Mae Krause, Dorothy Caneer, Patricia Mailliard, Diane Lojek-Ross, Sandy Wilcoxson and several nieces and nephews.
