Lucille N. Rodgers, age 89, of Oil City, PA passed away peacefully following an extended illness on December 16, 2016 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community in Meadville. She was born in Banner Elk, North Carolina on August 26, 1927 to the late Freddie McCree Piercy and Carrie E. Lowe. Lucille graduated from Cranberry Area High School in 1945 as salutatorian of her class. Lucille was employed as an accounts secretary: First at Pennsylvania Rubber and Supply Company in Oil City, PA, and later at Baker’s Auto Supply in Seneca, PA until her retirement. She later worked at Blair Call Center in Franklin, PA. She enjoyed reading, flower gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by Brayton Rodgers and two sons: James M. Rodgers of Linesville, PA and David T. Rodgers and his wife Julie of Oakdale, PA, twin grand-daughters: Megan Rodgers and Sarah Rodgers Hamilton and her husband, Eric. Four nephews: Fred J. Piercy and his wife Jill, John Piercy and his wife Linda, William Piercy and his wife Dixie, Robert Piercy and Diana, two nieces: Susan Rumburd and her husband Thomas and Barbara Boyd and many great nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by three brothers: Brooks Piercy, Julian “Tiny” Piercy and Fred W. Piercy, a nephew: Brooks Piercy, Jr. and a niece: Pamela Piercy Miller. A memorial service is scheduled for January 21, 2017 at the Cornerstone Bible Church, located at 407 West First Street, Oil City, PA, 16301. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
