Mable Mae Calvin

Mable Mae Calvin, age 88, of Meadville, PA passed away on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Rolling Fields Nursing Home, Conneautvile, PA. She was born on July 6, 1925 in Greenwood Twp, Crawford County, PA, the daughter of the late Lyle Hall and Hazel Peterson. She married Clarence H. Calvin on October 4, 1947. He preceded her in death on April 11, 2003. She had worked as a cook for several years starting at the Willow Tavern for three years, then at the Beacon Inn for ten years, and retired from the Evergreens after 18 years. She previously had been employed at the former Talon Inc. where she worked in fuses. She was a former member of the Greenwood Auxiliary and a social member of the Vernon Central Fire Company. She also was a former member of Vernon Grange No. 936. Mable enjoyed crocheting items and giving them away to friends and neighbors. She loved her flowers and playing cards with a very special group and also playing Bingo. But most of all, she loved her family. Mable is survived by one son, Harry R. Brooks and his wife, Carol of Meadville, PA, a granddaughter, Teresa Lee and her husband, Brandon of Seattle, Washington, and a great grandson, Alexander Lee of Seattle, Washington. She is also survived by one nephew, Ron Peterson and his wife, Sherrie and their children, Dustin and Kelly. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronnie Calvin, and her step-father, Paul Mook. Per Mable's request, there will be no viewing or services. She will be cremated and buried in Anderson Cemetery.
