Marianne Sturrock

Marianne (Newell) Sturrock, age 71, of Guys Mills, PA passed away on August 14, 2020 at Meadville Medical Center.  She was born on June 26, 1949 at Valley Forge Army Hospital to the late Harold Newell and Norma Jean Duda.  She married Duane “Chopper” Sturrock on June 28, 1969 and celebrated their 50 ^th wedding anniversary in 2019 surrounded by family.  Duane preceded Marianne in death earlier this year on February 4, 2020.

Marianne graduated from Cambridge Springs High School in 1967 and then attended Edinboro University for a year.  She began working at Avtex Fibers, then took on the responsibility as a Caregiver for Yolanda Barco, finished her career and retired as a Care Assistant from Quality Living Center in 2011.

Marianne most enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She will always be remembered for bringing her family famous banana split cake to family gatherings, among many other beautiful memories.  She also enjoyed reading, doing puzzle books, crafts, crocheting and playing cards with her husband and family.

Marianne was a loving, beautiful person who touched many lives and will be sorely missed.

Marianne is survived by her daughter, Tammy Phillips (Neal Wallace) of Fountain, CO; her son, Timothy Sturrock (Katie) of Guys Mills, PA; grandchildren, Kayla Ward (Shawn), Brittany Phillips, Tristan Sturrock (Rachel), Bradley Sturrock, Zachary Phillips (Cheyenne) and Cassidy Phillips; great-grandchildren, Kelly Ward, Levi Ward, Gavin Sturrock, Braelyn Sturrock and Kelsey Ward; one sister, Kathy Castro (Mike) and four brothers, Mark Duda, William Newell, Tom Newell and Norman Kroh.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Newell and Norma Jean Duda; her husband, Duane “Chopper” Sturrock; her grandson, Trenton Sturrock and her sister, Joanne Uzarski.

Marianne will be buried with her husband at Denny’s Cemetery at a later date.
