Marilyn was a 1961 Strong Vincent High School graduate and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Edinboro University. She was an elementary and instructional support teacher for Penncrest until she retired in 2004.
Marilyn was a member of Saint Peter and Paul Orthodox Church in America. She was a member of the church council and taught Sunday school. Marilyn dearly loved her church family. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and family and was a trivia buff. She always knew all of the answers on Jeopardy. Marilyn loved traveling to Anna Marie Island, Florida where she and Stephen owned a home.
Marilyn is survived by two daughters; Marianthy (Kevin) Cramer of Greenville, PA and Christina (Patrick) Harman of Meadville, PA and one son; George (Suzanne) Filipos of Charleston, SC; six grandchildren; Alexandra (Francisco Balanos) Amado, Stephen Griffith-Filipos, Evan Dias, Torin Barber, Athena Harman and Brig Barber; one sister, Esther White of Erie, PA and her late sister Rita’s life partner, Phil Dodson of San Jose, CA and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Rita Jordine and her brother-in-law, Norman White.
Friends and family are invited to call Sunday, September 16 from 4-7 p.m. at St. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church on Crossingville, PA. The service will be Monday, September 17 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter and Paul Orhtodox Church. Interment will take place in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery following the Funeral.
