Mark Swift, Sr.

Mark E Swift Sr., age 44, of Rochester, NY passed away Friday, April 10, 2020. He was born in Meadville on November 14, 1975, the son of Linda Thompson Newell and Donald L. Swift.

Mark was a 1994 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School.  He worked as an auto and diesel mechanic before joining the United States Marine Corp as a heavy truck mechanic for six years.  After receiving an Honorable Discharge, he spent one year working as “a civilian,” then decided to join the United States Army, where he took part in the invasion of Iraq. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, he worked as a civilian contractor for 2 years in Iraq and Afghanistan rebuilding heavy equipment vital for our troops. Back in civilian life again, he spent his time learning and excelling in plant maintenance at General Electric and currently with Bausch & Lomb.

In addition to his parents, Linda and her husband, Steve Newell of Meadville and Donald Swift of Meadville, Mark is survived by his children; Olivia Swift and Aaron Minner of Polk,PA,  Ashley Honey and her husband, Adam of Erie, PA and Mark Swift Jr. of Meadville;  granddaughter, Kaelyn Griffin; two brothers, Jeff Newell of Erie,PA and Brian Newell and his wife, Selina of Richland, WA;  an uncle, Robert Thompson and his wife, Phyllis of Erie, PA;  his aunt, Christine Green and her husband, Samuel of Venango, PA;  his aunt,  Beth Singleton and her husband,  Mark of Edinboro, PA and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceding Mark in death is his big brother, Barry R Swift; his maternal grandparents,  Robert and Arlene Thompson; his paternal grandparents,  Harold and Esther Swift and his best hunting partner and 4-legged yellow lab companion, Diesel.

A graveside service and a Celebration of Life will be held a later date.
