Martha Jean Forbes

Martha Jean Forbes age 91 of Meadville, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Rolling Fields Nursing Home on Saturday, October 28, 2017. She was born in Meadville on March 22, 1926 to the late Mike & Pearl Bigusiak.                 On September 13, 1947 she married Farley J. Forbes. Farley passed away on April 29, 2003. She was a graduate of Meadville Area Senior High. After graduating, she worked for Westinghouse. After getting married she stayed at home to care for the children and also worked as a children’s caregiver and raised foster kids. She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church, former member of the Eastern Star, an avid knitter and loved to play Bingo.                 Survivors include her 3 sons; Jeffrey (Kirsten) Forbes of Pittsburgh, Michael (Beth) Forbes of Meadville and Michael (Sabrina) Forbes, of the U.S. Army, currently stationed in Italy, daughter Deborah Dee Wrona, and foster son Jim Motters of Pittsburgh. 3 Grandchildren; Shannon Puhala, Ryan Forbes and Santanna Forbes and 8 great-grandchildren.                 Preceding Martha in death along with her husband are 4 brothers and 4 sisters; Mike Lipton, Charles Lipton, Steve Bigusiak, Andy Bigusiak, Edna Parks, Mary McCracken, Lillian DeRemer and Wanda Smock.                 Calling hours will be on Tuesday, October 31, from 4-7PM at the funeral home. The funeral will be on Wednesday, November 1, at 11AM. A private burial will follow at Greendale Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband Farley.
