Martha Louise Oakes, age 79, of Meadville passed away on January 29, 2015 at Meadville Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born May 18, 1935 in New Castle, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Francis Cole Phenicie and Viola Grisby Phenicie. She married Andy Shiner who preceded her in death. She subsequently married Howard Lloyd Oakes who also preceded her in death. Martha was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Meadville. She lived in Geneva for many years before moving to Holland Towers, where she also served on the council and was in charge of the master key. Martha enjoyed playing bingo and going to Kings Restaurant several times a week with her best friend and companion Carl Oswald. She is survived by her companion of nine years, Carl Oswald and by her loving grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her two grandsons; Timothy Oakes and Michael Oakes. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dickson Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N. Second St., Conneaut Lake, PA and from noon until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday with Pastor Doug Messerall former Pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church Meadville officiating. Interment will be in the Cochranton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Yolanda G.
