Mary Elizabeth Chatley, 77, of Meadville, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013, at her daughter's residence. She was born June 25, 1935, in Pittsburgh a daughter of Bernadine V. Miller McCartney. She was a graduate of Randolph High School and had been retired for many years. She was a member of St. Agatha's Church and enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, collecting elephants, baking, playing cards, spending time with her family and friends and doing for others. She taught people to read through the Read Program. Mary was a great supporter of the Erie Clowns and was fondly known as Mother Squeeze. She is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth Jensen and her husband Lloyd of Richfield, UT; Susan Marranconi and her husband Rick of Meadville, Sarah English and her husband John of Meadville; Linda Hunt and her significant other Joe Dillen of Meadville; 11 grandchildren, Angel McCarthy, Trina Stark, Faidra Pehrson, Heidi Farmer, Janna Jensen, Thomas Furry Jr., Anita Jenkens, Jeff Marranconi, Allissa Young, Austin Hutchinson, Tabatha Hunt; 22 great-grandchildren. She also considered Linda Gagean and Mark Harrison her honorary grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, a son Joseph R. Young, a brother Robert McCartney, a nephew William McCartney. Calling hours will be Sunday from 7pm to 9pm at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home, 614 Baldwin Street,Meadville. A Vigil Prayer Service will be held at 7 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday at 10am at St. Brigid Church383 Arch Street, Meadville, with Father Matthew Kujawinski as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Phillips Cemetery, Linesville.
