Max Galbraith

February 10, 1937 — September 22, 2023

51 years ago a confirmed bachelor married a widow with 6 children and then had a child with her.  On September 22, 2023 Max Leigh Galbraith from Jamestown, PA passed away at the age of 86.  He was born in Meadville, PA on February 10, 1937 to the late Leigh Roberts Galbraith and Ella Irene Thibault Galbraith.  He married Barbara Elaine Williams on August 31, 1972.  She survives.

Max was in the Army and served here and overseas in Korea.  He was a member of the Jamestown VFW. He enjoyed hunting and he was a pretty good mechanic.  He also loved riding a motorcycle in his younger days.

He had many jobs throughout the years.  He worked at Avtex until the plant closed. He also worked for Thornton Lawn Service, Asplundh Tree Service, Alltel with his best friend, David and Walmart in Meadville and Greenville.

Max was preceded in death by his stepson, Walter D. Williams III on November 4, 2000.

Max is survived by 1 daughter, Tanya L. Galbraith of Jamestown, PA and 5 stepdaughters, Melissa A. Sweet (Richard) of Indian Lake, NY, Tammy S. Erickson of Jamestown, PA, Lavinia M. Johnson (John) of Jamestown, PA, Janet L. Willard of Greenville, PA and Darla E. Yount of Meadville, PA.  He has 15 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild on the way.  He is survived by 1 brother, Gene R. Galbraith and his wife, Deanna of Seattle, WA and 2 sisters, Juanita Vanderhoof of Redding, PA and Ellen Thompson of SC.  He also has many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Robert L. Galbraith, Duane E. Galbraith, Charles E. Galbraith (Violet) and  Raymond T. Galbraith and 2 sisters, Maxine C. Leonhart (Frank) and Roberta L. Hagerty.

Max requested that there would be no services.
