Melanie L. (George) Reed, age 69, of Spartansburg, PA went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 29, 2024 following a brief illness. She was born on June 30, 1955 in Canonsburg, PA to the late Thelma B. (Johnston) Mendak. She married Steven L. Reed on February 23, 1974. He preceded her in death on February 25, 2022.
Melanie graduated from Maplewood High School in Cortland, Ohio in 1973. She was a member of Fellowship Bible Baptist Church, Wattsburg, PA.
Melanie was committed to her role as homemaker and saw that as God's calling for her life. She greatly missed her husband, Steve, of 48 years, but found great comfort knowing that she would someday be reunited with him in Heaven.
She also devoted many years to homeschooling her four children. She had a heart for teaching children about the Lord serving as a Children's Sunday School teacher and was involved in church music ministries over the years.
Melanie enjoyed cooking and using that act of service as a way of showing her love for others. She also enjoyed watercolor painting, singing to the Lord in church, and loved spending time with family. Her grandchildren were a true joy in her life. She always did her best in making birthdays and holidays a special time for those she loved. Animals were always a part of her life which she had many that she cared for and was always willing to take in a stray.
Surviving are four children, April (Randy) Zimmerman of Corry, PA, Jason (Erin) Reed of Centerville, PA.
