Michael Allegretti

Michael E. Allegretti, age 83, of Meadville, PA passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on November 19, 1937 in Meadville, PA to the late Anthony and Elizabeth (Palmiero) Allegretti. He married Barbara Gehring on February 23, 1963. She survives.

Mike was a 1956 graduate of Meadville High School. He was the owner of Mike’s Place Restaurant and Tavern in Fifth Ward.

He was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church. He was instrumental in starting the Meadville Chapter of the Wolves Club. He was a lifetime member of the ICC. Mike enjoyed golfing and is now with his old friends and family on God’s green golf course.  He also enjoyed hunting, watching Browns football and most of all spending time with his grandkids and supporting them in all of their endeavors.

Mike will be most remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, who looked forward to attending every family sporting event, dance recital, or any other endeavor his grandchildren were pursuing. His family meant the world to him. Following his retirement he and his wife wintered in Florida for a number of years. They also travelled extensively through the United States and Europe.

In addition to his wife, Barb of 57 years, Mike is survived by two daughters, Michele Smith and her husband, Brian of Meadville, PA and Nichole Kneubehl and her husband, Chad of Saegertown, PA; four special grandchildren, Christopher Munson of Sarasota, FL, Nicholas Harnett of Sarasota, FL, Laurynn Smith of Meadville, PA and Bryce Smith of Meadville, PA; sisters-in-law, Antoinette Allegretti of Meadville, PA and Daryl Allegretti of Washington, PA and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Anthony Allegretti and a sister, Betty Torrance.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 from 10-11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church.  Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m.  Entombment will take place at St. Brigid Cemetery.  Due to Covid 19, the family is keeping services as safe and private as possible.  If attending, please respect the CDC guidelines.

Mike’s family would like to thank Dr. Unice and the Barco center team (especially his favorite nurse Yvonne) for being so good to him over the last couple years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Yolanda G.
