Michael Ferguson

Michael M. Ferguson, 74, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at his home in Meadville after a long illness. Born May 12, 1941, in Meadville, Mike was the eldest child of the late Frances (Mitchell) Ferguson and Victor T. Ferguson. Mike married Sharon Klinginsmith on July 18, 1975. Mike graduated from St. Agatha’s in 1959 and attended Allegheny College thereafter. Working as a railroad conductor for 42 years, he began his career with Erie Lackawanna Railroad and subsequently worked for Conrail and retired from Norfolk Southern. Mike and Sharon also owned Cannon’s Sport Store in Conneaut Lake from 1980 to 1994. Mike was a member of Pleasantview Alliance Church and a life member of the Meadville Rescue Squad. He was an avid hunter and was active in Ducks Unlimited for many years. His sense of humor and joking was a hallmark of his personality and brought joy to those who knew him. In addition to his wife, Mike is survived by his daughter Stacey Lowing and her husband, Tim, of Waynesville, OH; son Kurt and his wife, Janet, of Doylestown, PA; son Kyle and his wife, Corrine, of Sitka, AK; daughter Cara Moutsos and her husband, Thomas, of Alameda, CA; daughter Ali of Alameda, CA; grandchildren Leeona, Cade, Clay, Morgan, Silas, Ayla, Spero, Zenobia, and Ulysses; sister Mary Cullifer and her husband, Mack; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Caleb. Family and friends may call on Friday, March 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home and Crematory.   A funeral will be on Saturday at 11 a.m., with an hour of visitation from 10 to 11  a.m. at the Pleasantview Alliance Church, 16233 Sate Hwy 86, Saegertown, PA 16433 with Pastor Keith Draa officiating.  A private family burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery following the family luncheon.
