Oris D. “Joe” Arnett, age 86, of Conneaut Lake, PA passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday December 7, 2023. He was born on August 30, 1937 in Reader, WV to the late Jesse Dee and Lennie (Harris) Arnett. He married Shirley Harenchar, his wife of 65 years, on September 20, 1958. She survives.
Joe graduated from CLHS in 1956 as well as the CC Vocational School electrical program. He was employed at PPG Works 8 of Meadville, PA for over 30 years. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas Catholic Church. Joe was very active in Scouting and Conneaut Lake Boy Scout Troop 228. He was also the co-founder of the Lakeland Area Purple Martin Association. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, his flower gardens and holding down his rocking chair on the patio.
Joe and Shirley were blessed by five children, Barbara Downing and her husband, Mark of Martville, NY, Linda Ernst and her husband, Andy of Meadville, PA, Karen Temel and her husband, Mark of Conneaut Lake, PA, Joseph Arnett and his wife, Jen of Jamestown, PA and Daniel Arnett and his wife, Darlene of Atlantic, PA; fourteen grandchildren, Nathan Downing (Xaymara), Jared Downing, Molly Downing, Ted Ernst, Stephen Ernst, Megan Clifton (Ryan), Joshua Temel, Nicholas Temel, Noah Temel, Katherine Arnett, Elizabeth Arnett, Samantha Boyer, Alexis Arnett and Lane Arnett; three great grandchildren, Oliver Downing, Lucas Clifton and Cole Clifton; his sister, Mona Tatomirovich; two brothers, Dr. Charles Arnett and Jesse Arnett; his sisters-in-law, Carol Talkington and Pearl Arnett and his brother-in-law, Fred Cornell.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his siblings, Sonny Arnett, John Talkington, Bud Talkington, Jim Talkington, Anna Lou Cornell and Roma Philips.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday December 11, 2023 from 1-3 pm and 6-8 pm at Dickson Funeral Home, 130 N. 2nd St., Conneaut Lake, PA 16316. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday December 12, 2023 at 11 am at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church with Father Lucas officiating. Burial will take place immediately after at Our Lady Queen of the Americas cemetery.
