Paul Kelly

June 24, 1926 — April 22, 2021

Paul L. Kelly, a lifelong resident of Hartstown, PA passed away on April 22, 2021 at the Marquette Hospice House with his loving family by his side.  He was 94 years old.    He was born on June 24, 1926 in Hartstown, PA to the late Paul Cyrus and Nellie (Shellito) Kelly.

He attended East Fallowfield School.  He worked in his uncle’s garage in Greenville, PA until he was drafted at the age of 18 into the 63 rd Infintry serving during World War II in the United States Army.  He was on the front lines in Germany for two months during the Battle of the Bulge.  He then served the 36 th Signal Corp. as a mechanic and was put in charge of the motor pool. When he returned home from the war, he had lost all of his belongings in a fire.

Paul married Ruby Bush on September 20, 1947.  She survives. Together they had three children.

He is survived by his children, Barbara Griggs and her husband, Thomas, Dana Kelly and his wife, Cara and Gary Kelly  and his wife Kathryn all of Hartstown, PA.  He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Shawnya Mast (Ivan), Deanna Byler (Ben), Kelly Griggs, Victor Kelly, Myah Kelly, Paul T. Kelly (Jennifer) and Grace Kelly; 5 great-grandchildren, Cody Lews, Landyn Byler, Taylor Byler, Alyssa Burnsworth and Alaina Burnsworth; one brother, John (Jack) Kelly and sister-in-law, Nubia of California and several nieces and nephews.

Paul was a soft spoken, hard working and adored man that cherished every moment with his family.  He was the owner of Kelly’s Big Rock Farm and was well known for raising champion line Suffolk sheep that were shown at various county fairs and the Pennsylvania Farm Show.  He was the 4-H leader of the Conneaut Lake Ag 4-H Club for 25 years.  He was the Sheep Department Chairman at the Crawford County Fair for 30 years and Chairman of the Sheep Department at the Jamestown Fair for 20 years, all while working at the Greenville Steel Car as a welder for 46 years.

He attended Fallowfield United Methodist Church.

The family would like to thank the surgical and medical staff at UPMC Hamot, Meadville Medical Center’s TCU and Marquette Hospice House for the extraordinary care given to him.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday April 26, 2021 from 2- 5 p.m.at Dickson Funeral Home 130 N. 2 nd St., Conneaut Lake, PA 16316.  Service will be at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Walter Clark, friend of the family, officiating.    Full military honors will be provided by VFW Post # 2006.  A private burial will take place in Rocky Glen Cemetery.
