Philip A. Larcom Philip A. Larcom, age 91, formerly of Leslie Road, Meadville and currently of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, died Tuesday, November 20, 2012. Phil was born in Port Allegany, PA on August 24, 1921, the son of the late Archie O. and Catherine Doud Larcom. He graduated from Port Allegany High School in l939 and was active in sports and played in the band and orchestra. Moving to Meadville, he worked for Talon, Inc. in production, then obtained a toolmaking apprenticeship in the tool division. After his graduation from the program, he remained in the tool division for a total of 43 years. He was promoted to supervision and after a number of promotions, became the Administrator of Talon's apprentice program for 15 years until the program was phased out. He retired in l983. On April 27, 1945, Phil married Rae Still. They were married for 63 years until her passing in December 2008. In earlier years, Phil enjoyed boating, gardening, hunting, woodworking, photography and in later years, his computer. Surviving are four nephews, Lyndon Larcom of Clemson, South Carolina, David Larcom and his wife, Jane of Hamburg, New York, Charles Larcom and his wife, Lula of Savannah, Georgia, and Michael Larcom of Pittsburgh, PA. In addition to his parents, and his wife, Phil was preceded in death by two brothers, Claude and Lyle, and by two sons, Gary and Brian. Cremation will take place. No services are planned. Burial will be in the Greendale Cemetery.
