Rev. Dr. Charles J. McGuigan, age 71 of Meadville, PA passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Wesbury United Methodist Community. He was born May 8, 1944 in Camden New Jersey the son of the late Charles J. McGuigan and Frances Abbott McGuigan. He married Christopher G. Martin on October 31, 1989. He survives. Charles received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education from Edinboro University. He obtained his Master's degree in Special Education with Life Skills from Bangor University. He received his Theology Degree as well and his Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology. Charles also furthered his education by earning his Doctorate's Degree in Education and his Doctorate's Degree in Theology. Charles had worked as a substitute school teacher in the Crawford Central School District. He also taught at Bethesda Children's Home and at French Creek Valley Christian School. Charles was of the Catholic Faith and later he was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Ft. Myers, then the Unitarian Universalist Church in Bangor. Upon residing in Meadville, he attended the Spiritual Church in Meadville where he served as the President of the Spiritual Association. He was an avid reader and loved spending time writing having had five poems and a short story published. He was named in the Who's Who of North America and Who's Who of The United States. He was an avid Chow Dog lover having six currently and at one point a total of thirteen. He is survived by his spouse: Christopher G. Martin of Meadville, PA, a sister: Ruthanne Pike of Saegertown, PA, a brother: Francis Huey McGuigan of St. Petersburg, FL, two nephews: Earl Pike of Saegertown, PA, Francis McGuigan Jr. of Meadville, PA, and five nieces: Camara McGuigan of Saegertown, PA, Autumn Weed of Saegertown, PA, Linda Guseman of Meadville, PA, Melissa McGuigan of Meadville, PA and Dianna McGuigan of Philadelphia, PA. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey McGuigan in 2009. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
