Richard Paul Derby, age 87, of Saegertown, PA passed away on Thursday, December 26 at Meadville Medical Center. He was born September 26, 1926 in Meadville, PA, the son of the late Clyde and Laura (Hogue) Derby. He married Doris Rubner Moore in August 1968. She subsequently passed away on March 9, 2006. He was a mechanic at various garages, including, Lou Davies, Kebert's, Johnson's and Dean Phipp's. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Saegertown American Legion Post 205. He is survived by two sons, Gary Derby and his wife, Joyce of Meadville, PA, and Terry Derby and his wife, Jan of Meadville, PA, two step-sons, Paul Moore and his companion, Kathy of Harmonsburg, PA and Carl Moore and his companion, Cindy of Conneaut Lake, PA; a step-daughter, Lorraine Ferguson and her husband George of Blooming Valley, PA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald Derby and his wife Loeta of Meadville, PA. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, and his former wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry Derby, three brothers, Edwin Derby, Donald Derby and Harold Derby and by three sisters, Eleanor Derby, Ella Onspaugh and Rita Linz, and by three step-sons, Donald Moore, Ronald Moore, and Daniel Moore. The family is honoring his wishes that there be no calling hours or funeral service. Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Township.
