Richard Carl Hopkins

Richard Carl “JD” Hopkins, age 69, of Blooming Valley, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 4, 2016 at home with family by his side.             Richard was born January 3, 1947 in Meadville, PA the son of Barbara J. Hosmer Hopkins and the late Richard Campbell Hopkins. He married Sue Buck in April 2002. She survives.             He was a graduate of Meadville High School and attended Edinboro University for two years. He was self employed as a musician and artist. He was also a writer, having written a few books.             JD is survived by his wife of 14 years, Sue Buck of Blooming Valley, four children; a son Jayson Hopkins of Meadville, PA, Autumn Homerski and her husband Keith of Meadville, a son Rickie Hopkins and his wife Angie of Erie, PA and the children’s mother, Chris Malliard of Meadville, PA, a son Jordan Hopkins of Linesville and his mother, Hedy Archer of Linesville, six grandchildren: Breanna Hopkins, Kaitlyn Hopkins, Livia Homerski, Aaron Homerski, Rickie T. Hopkins, and Riley Hopkins, one great grandson: Oliver Theriot, his mother and stepfather: Barbara Patton and Jim Patton of Meadville, PA, a sister: Kathleen Scheid and her husband David of Florida, a brother, James Hopkins of Meadville. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews.             Richard was preceded in death by his father: Richard Campbell Hopkins.             Family and friends are welcome to call on Friday from 6:30 until 7:00 PM, with a “Celebration of Life” service starting at 7:00 PM at the Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home & Crematory, 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
