Richard Overmyer

Richard “Dick” Overmyer, 85, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Meadville passed away May 13, 2019 in Sarasota, FL.  He was born on January 6, 1934 in Toledo, OH to the late, Richard Overmyer, Sr. and Verle-Marie Overmyer.  He married Carol Masterson in 1960.  She preceded him in death in August 2005.

Dick was a graduate of Allegheny College with a BA in Theater.  He then served in the United States Army. After his service in the Army he attended San Diego State receiving his Masters in Fine Arts.

Dick was then employed at Allegheny College as a theatre professor.  After retirement he was a Director of the Academy Theater.

He enjoyed reading, walking and playing poker.  He also loved working in his wood shop.

Dick is survived by one daughter, Katherine Cooper and her husband, John of Davenport, IA; one son, Michael Overmyer and his wife, Michelle of Edinboro, PA; six grandchildren, John, William, and Joseph Cooper of Iowa; Emily Ann See and her husband, Christopher of Mechanicsburg, PA; Aaron and Samuel Wagner of Edinboro, PA; one sister, Melinda Sharrit and her husband, Norm of Sarasota, FL; one brother, Ed Overmyer and his wife, Doris of San Francisco, CA; and a cousin, Sheila Woods of Long Island, NY.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

As per Dick’s wishes there will be no services.
