Richard Smith

December 21, 1945 — August 19, 2023

Richard “Dick” A. Smith, age 77, of Conneaut Lake, PA passed away at UPMC Hamot on Saturday August 19, 2023.  He was born on December 21, 1945 in Geneva, PA to the late John and Madelyn (Soules)   Smith.  On February 15, 1992, he married Bonnie (Buerkle) Heil Smith.

Dick graduated from Meadville High School in 1964.  He was a tool maker until his retirement.  After his retirement from the tool trade, he worked with his wife at Heil Control.

Dick was a member of Oakland Beach G. C., the Iroquois Club, and Station #3.  He was an avid golfer, earning 5 hole-in-ones.  He also enjoyed hunting, Conneaut Lake, and all of his grand dogs.

He is survived  by his wife Bonnie of 31 years and his five children, Joe Smith and his wife, Cathy of Meadville, PA, Chad Smith of Knoxville, TN, Kathy Wiltrout and her husband, Dan of Rockford, MI, Meg Hilla and her husband, John of Palmyra, PA and Alan “Dupper” Heil and his wife, Amber of Conneaut Lake, PA; his grandchildren, Lucy Smith, Kasey Smith, Kevin Wiltrout, Lisa Welter, and Erin Sechrist; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sandy Tatum of Hoenwald, TN, Janet Robinson of Meadville, PA and one brother, Michael Smith of Ormond Beach, FL.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Slayton.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday August 23, 2023 from 4-6 p.m. at Dickson Funeral Home and Crematory, 130 N. 2nd St., Conneaut Lake, PA 16316.  A memorial service will take place at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
