Richard Weig

Richard “Rick” J. Weig, age 80, of Meadville, PA passed away at home after an extended illness with his loving wife and daughter, Lori by his side on Tuesday September 27, 2022.He was born on October 20, 1941 in Dubuque, IA to the late John and Carmelita (Lang) Weig. He married Dolores “Dee” Lippert on July 17, 1965.  She survives.

Rick attended Loras University in Iowa. He was the sole proprietor for “Rick’s Lunch Wagon” for 28 years in the Meadville area where he was widely known by his loyal customers at many local businesses and shops.

Rick was of the Catholic faith.  He was a member of BPOE #219. He was an avid golfer and was a member of several golf clubs in the area for many years.  For 19 years, he was a member at Venango Valley golf course where he was also a ranger. He was a bridge player for the Meadville Bridge Club and an avid card player.  Rick loved to read; you never saw him without a book. He also was an old movie buff, particularly Westerns.   He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Rick is survived by his wife, Dee of Meadville; two daughters, Lori Weig-Tamasy of Saltsburg and Karen Weig (Sean Rickert) of Phoenixville; one son, Rick Weig Jr. of Greensburg; two grandchildren, Jack Tamasy of Saltsburg, Alexis Weig of Greensburg; two sisters, Jackie Hamblin (Chuck) of Peosta, IA and Melody Weig of London, England; one brother, Andy Weig (Deb) of FL and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tom Weig.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 3-6 PM with the Memorial Service immediately following at 6 PM at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home and Crematory, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville, PA 16335.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Yolanda Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Rd, Meadville, PA 16335.
