Robert “Bob” A. Chimiak Sr., age 84, of Meadville, PA passed away peacefully with his loving family surrounding him on Friday February 4, 2022 at Meadville Medical Center. He was born on February 1, 1938 in Johnstown, PA to the late Branislaw R. Chimiak and Elizabeth M. (Chimiak) Morabito. He shared his love and his life with Roseann Piccolo for the last 45 years. She survives.
Bob graduated from Bishop McCourt High School in Johnstown, PA in 1957. He was an outstanding football player and received numerous awards throughout his high school years while playing the sport he loved! He worked at a variety of bakeries as a “Journeyman Baker”, everything he baked was from scratch and He took pride in knowing his customers were getting the best products in town! Many would remember him for his homemade pies and Italian bread from Super Duper Bakery, formerly located in Meadville, PA. He retired from Giant Eagle Bakery.
He was a former member of Vernon Central Fire Hall for many years and participated in several local golf leagues. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons, golfing with friends, watching football and old time western movies during his retired days. He was of Catholic faith and knew that “The Man Upstairs”, as he would say was watching over him up until his final rest.
In addition to Roseann Piccolo, Bob is survived by his five children, Cecilia Compton of Meadville, PA, Robert Chimiak, Jr. of Hadley, PA, Richard Chimiak and his wife, Diane of Meadville, PA, Daniel Chimiak of Grove City, PA and Theresa Chimiak of Meadville, PA; 9 grandchildren, Matthew, Rebecca, Andreanna, Aaron, David- Michael, Jacob, Maya, Shelby and Zane; 5 great-grandchildren, Claudia, Clayton, Elise, Elton and Promiis. He also considered Roseann’s children his own, Cherie Anderson of Meadville, PA and Mary Ruland and her husband, Nick of Fort Myers, FL.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter, Heather Anderson, and his beloved cat Angel.
As per Bob’s request, there will be no services.
