Robert "Jake" Crowe

September 16, 1980 — October 8, 2020

Robert Crowe, known by most as Jake, passed away at the age of 40 at his residence on October 8, 2020.  He was born on September 16, 1980 to Thomas Crowe and the late Victoria (Kuhta) Crowe in Somerset, PA; but spent his life in Venango, PA. The small community afforded the safe pursuit of outdoor activities such as fun in the snow and harrowing descents of Devil’s Hill in the winter; followed by biking and baseball when the cold finally yielded.  Jake showed a great aptitude and enjoyment of domestic life. His first attempt at his now famous no-bake cookies came at a very young age in the family home on Rt. 19. Later in life, he enjoyed barbequing chicken at family gatherings and sharing his love of goulash at family dinners. Jake’s youth was a special time spent hunting, playing football, and helping at the family business in the center of town. In his young adulthood Jake experienced several setbacks, which proved more than he could overcome emotionally. However, he continued to pursue careers that utilized his tremendous creative talent and mental acuity. The field of science missed a great contributor when Jake was unable to complete his studies. He was an avid reader and a prolific movie buff. Attending Pearl Jam concerts, watching football with friends, playing badminton with family and kayaking French Creek, were some of his favorite pastimes. Jake’s gentle spirit and witty sense of humor enriched the lives of his family and friends.

Jake was a 1999 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School.  He then attended Penn State University.  He was employed as a cook by Pizza Joes, he worked for PTR (Tool and Plastics, LLC) and Riverside Inn and he was also an itinerant carpenter.

He is survived by his father, Thomas Crowe; his sister, Kathryn Doubet; his brother, Lucas Crowe and his nephews, Parker, Cameron and Alexander Doubet.

Jake dearly loved his mother who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his constant companion, Eddie, his Boxer whom he adored.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Greendale Cemetery.
