Robert Allen Harvey, Jr.

Robert Allen Harvey, Sr., age 97, of Meadville, PA passed away February 2, 2019 at his home.  He was born April 4, 1921 in Powelton, PA to the late Ralph and Naomi Loretta (Vaugh) Harvey.  He married Betty J. Smith on May 6, 1947.  She preceded him in death on December 3, 2013.

Robert was a World War II P.F.C. in the United States Army.  He was a truck driver for many different companies.  He was employed by Clair J. Ferry, the Iroquois Club and Holland Towers.

Robert was a member of the Christian Alliance Church.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #111, the former president of the Eagles Club of Meadville, and a past member of the Auxiliary VFW of Clearfield, PA.   He enjoyed watching soap operas on TV and watching football and baseball.  He was a Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan and a Penn State College fan.

Robert is survived by five children; Robert A. Harvey Jr. and his wife, Sandra of Saegertown, PA, William LeRoy Harvey of Beaumont, TX, Sandra Stainbrook of Meadville, PA, Wanda Hopkins and her husband, Don of Meadville, PA, and Michael D. Harvey of Meadville, PA; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; one son, Ralph E. Harvey; two grandsons, Charlie Harvey and Kristopher Stainbrook; one great-great grandson, Bennett; one sister, Lucinda Smith; three brothers, William Harvey, Ralph Harvey, and Charles Harvey and one son-in-law, Jeff Stainbrook.

Memorial contributions can be made to American Legion-Post# 111, 17137 Cussewago Rd. Meadville, PA 16335 and the Crawford County Humane Society 11012 Kennedy Hill Rd. Meadville, PA 16335.

Family and friends are invited to call at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home and Crematory, Meadville, PA on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. Service will be held immediately following calling hours at the funeral home at 4 p.m. Full military honors will be provided by VFW Post 2006.  A private burial will take place at Venango Cemetery.
