Bob joined the US Navy at age 19. Over a four year period, he participated in over 23 invasions of islands in the South Pacific, eventually being sent stateside because of his eyes being injured in battle. He was married to Dorothy Jockel who passed away in 1990. He subsequently married and was preceded in death by Virginia Jeffries. He and his son, Randy, were partners in the construction trade, starting in the pole barn business as Lake Buildings and then building many homes in the area as Rand Homes. Firedex was their answer to the area's problems of fixing property damaged by flood and fire, helping many home owners get their lives back to normal after a catastrophy. They then started FireTech Restorations, the area's top restoration company from which Bob retired. In retirement, Bob enjoyed many winters in Fort Myers, FL, playing golf and enjoying the sun. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas Roman Catholic Church of Conneaut Lake; he was one of the organizers of the Linesville VFW Post 7842, where he was a Past Commander. A proud US Veteran, he had marched in many Memorial Day parades. Bob loved golf and his friends at the VFW Post 7842 in Linesville.
