Robert S. Wakefield

Robert S. Wakefield, 75, of Hartstown, passed away October 5, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie.  He was born March 10, 1943 to the late Leonard and Laura (Radcliff) Wakefield in Redfield, Arkansas.  He married Darlene Peterson on December 17, 1976. Robert was an E6 Sergeant in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he received a Purple Heart. After ten years of military service, he then became a truck driver for a pipeline company based in Texas.  He was a lifetime member of both the Meadville VFW Post 2006 and the Disabled Veterans.  He was also a member of the Vernon Central Fire Hall and Pumphouse 45 in Hartstown.  Robert enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, playing the lottery, going to Presque Isle Downs casino and spending time with his family.  Robert is survived by his wife of 41 years, Darlene; one daughter, Robin Wakefield of Missouri; two sons, Bobby Wakefield of Arkansas and Calvin Wakefield and his wife, Kelly of Texas; six grandchildren, Francie, Christa, Skylar, Logan, Alex, Dillon, Hunter, Lizzie, and Olivia; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack Wakefield and his wife, Jean of Arkansas; mother-in-law, Elaine Peterson of Hartstown; brother-in-law, Ronald Peterson of Hartstown; brother-in-law, Bobby Peterson and his wife, Janet of Florida; sister-in-law, Rachel Wakefield of Texas; nephew, Christopher Colton Coates of Conneaut Lake; one special niece, Courtney Rose Stewart of Conneaut Lake; several other nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Sassy.  He was preceded in death by his parents; several brothers and sisters; a niece, Tawnya Peterson and a nephew, Richard Wakefield. Per Robert’s request, there will be no funeral service.
