Roberta Pauline Morgan

Roberta Pauline Morgan, 82, of New Windsor, MD, formerly of Corunna, IN, Geneva, PA, Kingman, AZ and many other locales, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, in Meadville, PA, after a brief illness. Roberta was born March 15, 1931 in Corunna, IN, the daughter of Mina M. Bard Hawk and Curtis F. Hawk. Roberta and her family moved to the Geneva area in 1938, and she graduated from Meadville High School in 1950. She is a 1953 graduate of the former Meadville City Hospital School of Nursing. Following graduation, she practiced nursing in California and Nevada and as part of her continuing education she ultimately earned her Master's Degree. Roberta worshipped at multiple church communities during her life. She began worshipping at the Geneva United Brethren Church in Geneva, PA. She later joined other communities including the Church of the Nazarene in Kingman, AZ and more recently the Faith Community Bible Church in Westminster, MD. During her long professional career, she worked at several institutions in many and varied positions including as a Supervisor, Director of Nursing and staff nurse at Folsom Prison. Her interests were varied and included running half marathons after age 50, walking with the family dogs, being outdoors in nature, spending time with her family, and making friends while serving at the Westminster MD Senior Center. She also loved riding trains, was an avid camper and enjoyed target shooting. Roberta is survived by her son, Steven Yerger and his wife Sandra of New Windsor, MD and her son Robert Yerger Hawk of Frederick, MD; grandchildren Rebekah Farace and husband James, Hannah Yerger, Jonathan Yerger and Winter Hawk; numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Glendora J. Adsit of Conneaut Lake, PA. In addition to her parents, Roberta was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ken Morgan in 2011 and by her brothers Don Hawk and Darrell Hawk. Family and friends are invited to call for a memorial service at Faith Geneva Methodist Church in Geneva, PA on Thursday, July 25 from 6pm to 8pm. Interment will be at Geneva Memorial Cemetery in Geneva, PA at a later date.
