?Roger C. Williams, age 83 of Saegertown, PA passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Crawford County Care Center.?Roger was born August 4, 1933 in Meadville, Pennsylvania the son of the late Cyrus Williams and Flossie McCooey Williams. He married Betty Lou Schrubb at the Hamlin Chapel United Methodist Church on October 24, 1981. She survives.?Roger graduated from Meadville High School in 1952. He then attended Arizona State University. Roger was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean Conflict where he served with the Medical Corp from May 26, 1953 to May 24, 1955. He was a Lifetime member of the American Legion Post 206, Saegertown, and a Lifetime member of the VFW Post 2006 in Meadville.?He was a member of the Saegertown United Methodist Church, a 67 year member of Vernon Grange #936, the Crawford County Pomona Grange #26, the Pennsylvania State Grange and the National Grange. Over the years, Roger had held various offices within the local granges, served as the Crawford County Pomona Grange Master for 7 years and had been a Deputy and served on the Good of The Order Committee for the PA State Grange. He was a Crawford County Conservation Board member.?Roger had served as Crawford County Commissioner from 1992 until 2007. Prior to being elected Commissioner, Roger worked at Warehouse Electric in Meadville for 28 years, served as the manger of the SKAT gas station on Mead Avenue, operated the End of the Road Restaurant in Linesville, and at American Brakeshoe.?Roger is survived by his wife of 35 years, Betty Lou Williams of Saegertown, PA, a son: Richard C. Williams and his wife Maryann of Hendersonville, NC. a daughter: Denise Bourhenne and her husband Michael of St. Pauls, NC, two step-daughters: Rhonda Sue Dodelin and her husband Joe of Oceanside, CA, Wendy Ann Whitmire and her husband Bruce of Channelview, TX, three grandson, one granddaughter, four step-grandsons, four step-granddaughters, six step-great-grandsons, and eight step-great-granddaughters, a brother: Roy E. Williams and his wife Sally of Meadville, his brother-in-law: Victor Schrubb and his wife Tarree of Livingston, TX. He is further survived by a niece, a nephew and several cousins.?In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by a brother, Karl A. Williams and by several aunts and uncles.?Family and friends are welcome to call on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Kenneth G. Merritt Funeral Home & Crematory, 614 Baldwin Street, Meadville.?All are welcome to attend the funeral service on Tuesday at 1:00 PM at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Darrell Greenawalt of the Saegertown United Methodist Church, retired Rev. Joe Rial and Pastor Bruce Whitmire.?Military Honors will be presented by VFW Post 2006, on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Service.
