Roy Kurt

December 31, 1944 — November 11, 2021

On this day a son of Conneaut Lake took his last breath under the care of loving family members and hospice after a short illness.

Roy Kurt was a lifelong resident of the Conneaut Lake community and leaves behind family and friends who were welcome recipients of his love and friendship.  His death creates a void in all of the lives of those whom he touched.

Roy leaves behind many bereaved from his death, most importantly his beloved daughters, Deborah Ann Monnie and Kimberly Sue O’Toole and her significant other Thomas Collin, his son-in-law Jeffrey L. Monnie, his grandsons Christopher and Jacob Monnie, and his BELOVED great granddaughter, Emilia Marie Monnie, daughter of Jake and Haylee. Roy is survived by his brother Paul Kurt and wife Francis(Harshaw) who live in The Villages, Florida.  Roy also leaves a niece Jill Williams, Gastonia, NC, a nephew Jeffrey Kurt and wife Laurie from Conneaut Lake, PA, 3 great nieces and several great great nieces and nephew.

Roy was a 1962 graduate of CLHS and over the following years was a respected businessman in Conneaut Lake owning the Just Sleep Motel and Kurt Marine Sales.  For the past several years Roy lived in Englewood, Florida before returning recently to Conneaut Lake where he had planned to spend his remaining years with family and friends.

Roy’s parents preceded him in death.  His father Clarence F. Kurt died in 1986 and his mother Alice E. Kurt(Foden) died in 2002.

Roy was an active member of Our Lady Queen of America’s Catholic Church in Conneaut Lake, PA since 1952 and taught catechism classes, was a Eucharistic Minister and active with Cursillo.

Roy C. Kurt has departed from the fellowship of the living but his presence will always be felt by family and friends as they gaze upon his beloved Conneaut Lake possibly seeing his spirit in the rising mist from a sunrise or a flicker of his smile in a glorious sunset.

But more likely those who were very close to him will remember him at those times when a vintage Corvette passes by or when the chant of “Go Steelers” rises from the fans of his favorite football team.

Fare Thee Well and GOD SPEED Roy!

“He will swallow up death in victory and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces.” (Isaiah 25:8)
