Samuel A. Lobins, age 84, formerly of Conneaut Lake, PA passed away on Tuesday May 17, 2022 at LECOM Senior Living Center in Erie, PA. He was born in Meadville, PA on April 1, 1938. He was the first of the Lobins children to be born in a hospital. Samuel was the youngest of the 12 children of Nick and Anna (Bukovensky) Lobins. He married Patricia Schell Alabran on July 16, 1994. She survives.
Sam attended a one room school his first three years (each row was a class) and was a member of the class of 1956-Conneaut Lake High School. In high school, he was voted “the most outstanding athlete” of his class and was considered by most as the best basketball player of his day. Sam played on the 1976 Class “C” slow pitch state champion softball team-sponsored by the Crystal Lake Tavern.
Sam was a welder at Greenville Steel Car Co. for 14 years and retired as a paint machine operator at Jamestown Paint Factory in 1999.
Samuel A. Lobins grew up in the “best of times” when things were simple. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Pat and Sam have 8 children: Kevin (Kay) Lobins, Craig (LuAnn) Lobins, Kimberley Miller, Lanette Francis, Daniel E.(II)(Linda) Alabran, Michele M. (Andy) Koket, Susanna L. (Brian) Stallard, Michael W. (Tera) Alabran; 16 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his brothers, William, Nick, Frank, Steve, George, John and Joe (all Lobins) and his sisters, Margaret Elway, Irene Yarosh, Elizabeth Gushard and Ann Marie Lobins.
A private family service will be held.
